Something Blue

I can't believe I'm getting married today.  Oh gosh, I'm getting married today.  What's Reverie saying?  Shoot, am I supposed to be answering her?  No, she's just talking to herself while she does my hair.  I like her voice, it's really soothing.  I think she's helping me stay calm.  Well, that and the fact that I get to marry Sorna today.

Oh my Karn, I'm getting married today.  I hope Sorna likes the dress.  Of course he'll like the dress. Rev says he'll love the dress.  I think she's biased though.  I mean, she is my best friend and she did help design it, soooo.

What did she say?  She looks so pretty in her bridesmaid dress, there isn't anybody I'd rather have there with me.  I'm so, so lucky.  Most girls work hard to have good relationships with the siblings of their spouse.  My fiance's twin is my very best friend in the whole world.  She's been so good at helping me with all this wedding stuff.

How does it go again?  Oh, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.  Another one of those traditions that doesn't translate across to dragonkin traditions.  I have a necklace from my great-grandmother's hoard, though.  And my dress counts as something new.  Reverie let me borrow this beautiful pair of pearl earrings, and told me I needed this garter belt thing for around my thigh under my dress.  I went with blue, the color of his hair.

He's not really going to take it off when everyone is watching, is he?  It that really the tradition?  He can't, I just....no, no.  Stop.  Take a deep breath, calm down.  Whatever happens, happens.  Because you're marrying your best friend in the whole world today, Baranie.  You're going to be able to spend the rest of your lives together.

And tonight, when everyone's gone and it's just the two of us - we'll take the vow of my people.  We'll be bonded eternally that way, as well.

I'm going to put it on, let Reverie finish my hair, and then have her help me get into my dress.  I'm so excited.  And nervous, happy, jittery and ecstatic.  Who knew so many emotions could happy all at the same time?

Oh my gosh, I can't wait to get married today.
